Ingredient Breakdown

Aqua (Water)
The primary solvent in the formula, used to dissolve water-soluble ingredients and provide the base for the serum texture.

Glycerin
A humectant that draws moisture into the outer layers of the skin, helping to keep the skin hydrated throughout the day.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder
A spray-dried or freeze-dried form of Aloe Vera leaf juice. It has the same soothing, moisturising and conditioning properties as fresh Aloe Vera juice, and is used in this formula for its calming and skin-conditioning benefits.

Stearic Acid
A naturally derived fatty acid that acts as an emollient and helps to stabilise the formula, contributing to its smooth, even texture.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
A lightweight emollient derived from coconut oil and glycerin. It is light-textured, clear, and non-greasy, making the skin feel smooth without heaviness.

Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract
A soothing, non-irritating plant extract known for its calming and emollient properties. It contains amino acids and organic acids that help maintain the skin’s natural acid balance, and contributes to the formula’s calming profile alongside the Vitamin A ingredients.

Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil
Technically a liquid wax ester rather than a conventional oil, Jojoba is unique in its similarity to the skin’s own sebum. It forms a thin, protective layer on the skin surface, seals in moisture, and absorbs easily without leaving a greasy residue.

Cetearyl Alcohol
A fatty alcohol that helps to give the formula its smooth, even consistency, acting as an emollient and emulsion stabiliser.

Ceteareth-20
An emulsifier that helps keep the oil and water elements of the formula combined, contributing to a smooth, consistent texture.

Dimethicone
A silicone-derived emollient that gives the formula a smooth, silky feel on the skin. It forms a light, breathable barrier that helps to seal in moisture and gives the serum its characteristic elegant texture.

Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil
A well-established emollient plant oil rich in linoleic and oleic acids that helps keep the skin smooth and hydrated.

Retinyl Palmitate
The most gentle of the three Vitamin A forms in this formula. An ester of Retinol and palmitic acid, it requires three conversion steps to become active in the skin, making it the slowest acting and most gradual of the three retinoids. It extends the formula’s Vitamin A activity with a minimal irritation profile.

Retinol
The most widely researched over-the-counter form of Vitamin A. Retinol requires two conversion steps to become active in the skin, working gradually to contribute to a smoother, more even-looking complexion and helping to reduce the visible signs of ageing with consistent use.

Bakuchiol
A plant-derived ingredient extracted from the seeds of the Babchi plant, used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. Well-researched studies have shown that Bakuchiol behaves similarly to Retinol on the skin, contributing to a smoother, more refined-looking complexion, while being well tolerated, including by those with sensitivity concerns. It also helps to stabilise Retinol in the formula.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)
A well-researched, water-soluble vitamin with multiple proven benefits for the skin, working gradually to even skin tone, help reduce the appearance of dark spots, refine pores, and help maintain a healthy skin barrier.

Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid)
The sodium salt form of Hyaluronic Acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the skin with exceptional water-binding capacity. It helps the skin retain moisture, contributing to a plump, well-hydrated complexion and helping to offset the drying effects that can accompany Vitamin A use.

Carbomer
A polymer used to help thicken and stabilise the formula, giving the serum its smooth, consistent texture.

Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E)
A naturally derived antioxidant that helps protect the skin from environmental stressors. It also conditions and nourishes the skin and helps to keep the formula stable over time.

Phenoxyethanol
A safe, gentle preservative that has been used in cosmetics since around 1950. It maintains the safety and stability of the formula and is approved for use up to 1% globally.

Ethylhexylglycerin
A skin-conditioning agent that works alongside Phenoxyethanol to maintain the formula’s preservation system, while also contributing a pleasant feel on the skin.

Retinaldehyde (Retinal)
The most potent of the three Vitamin A forms in this formula. Retinaldehyde sits just one conversion step away from retinoic acid, the active form of Vitamin A, making it faster acting than both Retinol and Retinyl Palmitate. It is well-researched and has been shown to deliver comparable results to prescription-strength Vitamin A, with a good tolerability profile.
